Some of the things you need to consider while charging a forklift battery:
· Plug it into charger only when it needs to be charged
· Keep the charging area clean and spark free
· Do not let the battery drain completely before charging as this can reduce battery life
Plug it into charger only when it needs to be charged is the first thing you need to keep in mind, when you think of charging forklift batteries. It is recommended using the battery until the indicator shows the charge remaining is 20 percent. Once the indicator says 20 percent remaining remove the battery and plug it into a charger.
When you plug the charger cable into the port on the top of your the battery, an LED on the charger notifies you that it is charging. Wait until the LED light on the charger changes colour, indicating that charging is complete. As soon as the battery is fully charged, remove it from the charger.
Charging New Forklift Batteries
New forklift batteries can be charged 1,400 to 1,500 times on average. If you use your forklift frequently, you may have to charge it daily. But, if your usage is infrequent, it is better to avoid daily charging.
